Marjorie Sanborn reported that the checking account balance is about $31,000 and that she can write only four more checks pending new checks being printed. Invoices from Bob Dalton and Candy Wall for the Easter Egg Hunt and other expenses were paid.

Coloma Blues Live:
Candy Wall is supervising beer serving, ticket counting and the volunteer food booth. She has recruited 17 volunteers but more are needed. She proposed food menu items to be offered. Marjorie Sanborn proposed having three overlapping volunteer shifts to relieve workload and allow volunteers to enjoy the event as well. Cassandra Draxler volunteered use of her professional products booth as a CLCC information kiosk at the event.

Emily Ritter, our new administrative employee, gave a report on the CLCC membership and advertising campaign. Current total receipts are about $7600. Thanks to her hard work, the membership renewals and advertising input have dramatically increased, in the end saving the day for us. She suggested sending postcards to all current members thanking them for renewing. This would also provide verification of a mailing list for initiating next year’s membership drive. A motion was made and passed to do this postcard mailing to all members.

Betty Sederquist gave a summary of the 16-page Coloma-Lotus Guide content by page. A proof in .pdf format will be available for review on Friday, May 15. Printing input is to be Monday, May 18, and delivery on Wednesday, May 20. Initial distribution of the Guide to local businesses should be done by the beginning of Memorial Day weekend, Friday, May 22.

Highway 49 Realignment:
El Dorado County Transportation Commission (EDCTC) held its first public meeting on April 30. Harry Mercado of the Coloma-Lotus Valley Community Association (CLVCA), a member of the Stakeholder Advisory Committee (SAC) attended. Howard Penn reported that the consultant recommendations on critical issues, such as, highway routes and bypassing the Marshall Gold State Park, are awaiting more input from the public. Deborah Kruse, who is professionally employed in planning services, offered comments on the planning process. Bob Dalton advocated that the Coloma-Lotus Chamber of Commerce (CLCC) should be listed as an official member of SAC, like other business associations and chambers of commerce in the affected area. Howard Penn stated that he would contact Dan Bolster, the director of EDCTC, to petition for CLCC becoming a member of the EDCTC SAC.

Highway 49 Beautification:
Howard Penn reported that a preliminary design plan is needed to ultimately get a permit for landscaping work and signage on Highway 49. El Dorado County Department of Transportation (DOT) role is to facilitate approval of plans by the State of California Department of Transportation (DOT). Landscaping irrigation is a big issue, but reasonable gateway signs are probably OK with DOT. Deborah Kruse volunteered to submit planning recommendations.

Marketing Committee:
Howard Penn stated that marketing should be the main focus of the next scheduled Chamber meeting in June.

Destination Advertising:
Tom VanNoord suggested that the Chamber advertise in the monthly local media, such as, “Life” newpapers and Foothill Style magazine. Betty Sederquist commented that getting on the calendar of events in these publications requires submitting input months in advance.

Emily Ritter will contact Dan Crandall of the River Store about marketing the River Shuttle progam.
